We’ve been wanting to make shampoo bars for a long time, and finally got to it. We’ve made them several times over the past year, and have been using them exclusively on our own hair.
They’re a bit different from our soap recipes in that the ingredients are directed specifically at maintaining hair health and its beauty. For instance, the liquid is apple cider vinegar, not rainwater, and the essential oils are also for hair.
We’ve grown to like these bars. They leave our hair squeaky clean almost with the first use. I typically lather up, rinse, then lather again for the optimum results. They’re also a nice, rounded size that fits well in the hand.
Ingredients: Canola, castor, coconut, and sunflower oils; cocoa butter; lavender, bergamot, rosemary, tea tree, and patchouli essential oils; apple cider vinegar; sodium lactate for hardness; and lye.
